This Zin has sturdy tannins and a medium-full mouthfeel, but not the black, brooding quality that you’d expect from such bigness. Cola plus bright, jammy red and black berries pave the way for cocoa and lots of ripe, mixed black fruit on the finish. Goes down really easy. —D.M. 1 Note

Smells hot and sugary and plummy, like an overheated saute of fruit jam. The flavors are of sweet berries and alcohol. Unbalanced despite the richness, it combines hot, awkward flavors with richer, softer ones. 1 Note

Combines some pretty apple flavors with earthier notes, and drinks a bit heavy in the mouth. Herbal tastes show up on the finish. Dry, with good acids and dusty tannins, and clean. 1 Note

From the cooler, southeast section of the appellation, a wine that steers clear of SauvignonÕs grassy personality in favor of richer melon and fig notes. The fruity flavors are nicely balanced by crisp acidity and a dry, spicy mouthfeel that persists into the finish. 1 Note

Odd, somewhat vegetal but sweet nose. Full bodied, even heavy with melon and fig flavors. Flabby and not much like Sauvignon Blanc. 1 Note

Jammy and pumped to the brim with black-cherry fruit, it starts out kind of clunky but then straightens itself out. Fairly rich and fun to drink, it’s a little on the hefty side, but with personality. Plenty of sweet oak on the finish, perhaps too much. 1 Note

Here’s a drinkable everyday sort of Zin, offering fresh fruity flavors and rich tannins. Finishes with enough acidity to cut through pizza or greasy BBQ. 1 Note

Rosé doesn’t get more aromatic than this, which opens with a burst of ripe, freshly crushed red cherries. Those are the flavors, too, along with raspberries, root beer and vanilla. This is a refreshing blush, at a good everyday price. 1 Note

Sauvignon Blanc is the white wine that made Dry Creek Valley famous, and this is a classic example. It’s a deliciously light-bodied wine, with a delicate, crisp mouthfeel framing citrus fruit, melon and fig flavors that finish dry. 1 Note
