From 30-year-old vines, this is a big, jolly wine packed with ripe fruits, red plum juice and a full burst of richness in the mouth. The fruit is so ripe it is almost sweet, leaving a delicious strawberry flavor. 1 Note

A firmly tannic wine, a complete contrast to Pierre Chermette’s other Fleurie, Poncié. This is serious, full of dark tannins, black plums and firm fruit, very solid. There is even a touch of minerality to add to the complex texture. 1 Note

Very young, but already full of exuberant fruit, ripe and fresh, carried along by berries over the crispest acidity. Drink over the next year. 1 Note

An open, rich wine, full of juicy red berries, a touch of coffee, with the freshest of fruit and a ripe, final aftertaste. This is great quaffing wine, nothing too serious, but delicious over the next months. 1 Note

Strawberry jelly aromas are followed by a more stern, mineral wine. The tannins are firm, with an underlying sweet berry fruit. But it does need time, with a density of texture that needs to round out. But worth waiting for. 1 Note

This is composed of pure red fruits, with just a light touch of wood, but more cherries and acidity. There is a dry cranberry edge, which needs to soften out. 1 Note

Bringing out the tannic side of Fleurie, this Sélection is a chunky, structured wine whose black currant-skin flavors mingle with bitter cherries. It layers a fine juiciness with the structure. 1 Note

The year 2009 seems to have been a tannic one in Fleurie, producing wines that will benefit from some aging. This fits that bill well, a mineral and austere black fruit flavored wine, with a smoky aftertaste to go with tight acidity. 1 Note
