A great value white, with fresh grapefruit and crisp acidity. In a few months, the current raw edge will have softened, as the 60% Sémillon in the blend calms down. But it’s still a great summer drink. 1 Note

Fresh, toasty and dominated by new wood, this is made with an uncompromising New World approach. It’s richly smooth, the edges polished by open tannins and blackberry fruit flavors. It’s likely to develop fast, but enjoyably. 1 Note

A soft, unfocused wine with some kiwi flavors, which is out of balance with the high, herbaceous acidity. It has a hard edge that looks likely to stay as it matures. 1 Note

90-92 Barrel sample. This is rich, full of sweet-and-sour acidity, layers of sweet tannins and big, ripe fruit. It's powerful, intense and full of pure black currant fruit flavors. Ends with great acidity. 1 Note

Soft and open in character, this wine shows spice, white peach and pear flavors. The wine has a dense, concentrated texture, with wood spice giving complexity. Faint tannins give it an edge, which suggests it could age another two years. 1 Note

The tannins are the thing here, a strong, dry element that cuts through the fine, elegant fruits. The whole wine has a purity of fruit and a straight line of flavors with a mineral tightness to the structure. Age for 2–3 years more. 1 Note

With some weight behind it, this is a rounded wine, lightly flavored with apricot and lemon and a tang of bitter orange zest. The acidity is soft, an easy element in the texture. 1 Note
