Some funky leather, barnyard and charred beef gets it going, followed by ripe flavors of berry and sweet chocolate. A finish with sweetness, vanilla and carob is borderline cloying, but not quite. 1 Note

With its soft pear and banana aromas, the bouquet is welcoming. Flavors of mango and lychee are sweet, while a note of white pepper adds spice. Licorice and nutmeg provide depth to the lemony finish. Nice and drinkable. 1 Note

The nose deals earth, soy sauce, game and a distant note of green pepper. There’s good extract and color throughout, with some syrupy sweetness to offset the mildest note of green bean. Pepper and other spices on the finish create interest. 1 Note

Better than in previous years but still brambly and stemmy smelling. The palate is sheer and fairly hollow in the center, with simple buttery raspberry flavors. Shows bits of burnt wood, oil and heat on the finish. 1 Note

Raspberry and pie cherry aromas are at first sharp but turn earthy in time. In the mouth, it has a proper feel and expressive cherry and blackberry flavors. The finish is round, with grip and bitter chocolate notes. It goes down easy, with a dab of toasty oak flavor. 1 Note
