Lots of oak inthe nose, with black cherry, earth, stewed tomato, plum and other components. Drinks bitter and sharp, with high acidity. The austere plum and earth flavors finish with a tannic sour. This is a wine that cries out for olive oil. 1 Note

Dark as the grave, and pretty closed in the aroma right now, offering up hints of blackberry, pepper, earth, chocolate and bacon. Tastes late-picked, with pruny flavors and lots of mouth-numbing tannins, although the alcohol is a modest 13.7%. What it lacks in depth and nuance it makes up for with sheer chutzpah. 1 Note

Dull, earthy and unbalanced, with tobacco and green tea flavors and bitter acids. Mainly Carignane from old vines. This could be a far better wine. 1 Note

One of those wines that smells so good, you could just sniff and swirl. There’s lemongrass, vanilla, spearmint, butter and toast and a honeyed sweetness. Rich and flavorful, with melon and citrus flavors and a round, creamy texture. A slight touch of sweetness makes it fat, but it’s basically a dry wine. This is a super value. Buy it by the case for your house white. Best Buy. 1 Note
