Very ripe and exuberant, with powerful blackberry, currant, cassis, mineral and cedar flavors. But it’s also tough and hard in tannins, and not showing well now. Needs time. Best after 2010. 1 Note

This blush wine is made from Syrah. It’s pretty dark for a rosé, and shows flavors of cherries, cranberries and vanilla that finish sweet. 1 Note

There’s an earthy taste to this Chard that brings to mind tobacco and dried sage, while the fruit veers towards apricots and peaches. Creamy oak adds the usual nuances to this dry, soft wine. 1 Note

With hefty acidity, this crisp, zesty wine is bone dry, as the label says. Made Alsatian-style, it has tart green apple, peach, floral and mineral flavors. A wine of great charm and delicacy, and one of the top Rieslings of the vintage. 1 Note

Here’s a rich, complex Chardonnay, made in the full-blown Burgundian way. The fruit itself gives layers of tropical guava, pineapple and nectarine flavors, while finely toasted oak adds caramel, buttered toast and spice flavors. With a creamy texture, it’s a delicious wine all the way. 1 Note

Like it says, this Riesling is bone dry. It’s also crisp in acidity, with a tang of minerals and steel. It gains richness from a rich core of lemon, lime and orange citrus flavors, and possesses that note of diesel that a fine, cool climate Riesling shows. Should develop over the next six years. 1 Note

A beautiful Riesling, among the best in California. It’s crisp in acidity, and despite low alcohol, is rich in flavors of citrus fruits, apricots, peaches and the distinct petrol note of the variety. Should age for a long time. 1 Note

Slightly unripe, with an herbaceousness that interferes with the blackberries and currants, making the oak stick out uncomfortably. Sharp, too. But it’s good and richly tannic, and dry. Made from all five traditional Bordeaux varieties. 1 Note
