JM Cellars Sauvignon Blanc -2005 (WE-64335)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

This is the sixth vintage for this wine, and there is no question that Klipsun’s SB is something special. The clean, barrel-fermented effort is quite dry, clean and toasty. It’s been barrel aged sur lie in French oak (half new). Just 5% Semillon is added, but it gives the mouthfeel a touch of lanolin. 1 Note

Wilridge Merlot -2000 (WE-31466)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

Hard and tough, this wine shows a core of black cherry with streaks of mineral and metal, but the tannins are in the way. Some additional bottle time will be a big help. 1 Note

Januik Petite Verdot -2005 (WE-91129)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Dark and sappy, this has a wonderful floral top note, and then what comes in is a lot of sappy, juicy berry fruit. The barrel toast is proportional to the tannins and the fruit; it’s a sappy, dark, ripe, tannic wine for those who like the power of Petite Sirah, but ultimately want more structure and acid. 1 Note

Waterbrook Sauvignon Blanc -2000 (WE-15384)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

This is the last vintage that Waterbrook will bottle a Sauvignon Blanc, becasue the fruit from this Washington vineyard is in such demand that a budget-priced bottling is no longer possible. So grab this fresh, succulentvivid and bracing wine by the case and enjoy each every sip. you may not see its like for another millenium. 1 Note

Ridgefield Pinot Gris -2002 (WE-31516)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

This is a distinctive style of Pinot Gris, harder and more herbaceous than either the soft, tropical California bottlings or the fleshy, pear-flavored wines of Oregon. This is closer to a semillon, with tart citrus fruit and citrus rind flavors, a spicy middle, and some firm tannins. 1 Note

Kiona Lemberger -2005 (WE-94821)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

From old vines planted in 1975, this is one of the last of the Lemberger plantings from the early days of Washington viticulture. Nice blackberry fruit is washed in tannins and lightly oaked; a simple, satisfying pizza wine. 1 Note

Kiona Riesling -2007 (WE-94820)

Spritzy, with light stone fruit flavors suggesting peach and pear. Hints of residual sugar, some good texture in the mouth, and a lactic, slightly buttery finish. 1 Note

eleven Sauvignon Blanc -2006 (WE-79639)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

The Artz vineyard is on Red Mountain, one of the hottest sites in Washington, and yet this feels like a cool climate Sauvignon Blanc, with light melon and citrus flavors, alcohol at just 12%, and a bone-dry finish. It’s surprising, but very well done, and certainly a go-to wine for seafood, shellfish (oysters anyone?) or light salads. 1 Note

Mount Baker Vineyards Gewürztraminer -2008 (WE-114154)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

Red Mountain is not especially known for its Gewürztraminer other than the late harvest wines from Kiona. Here it has been blended with 12% Marsanne, resulting in a spicy, off-dry (1.4 residual sugar), rather yeasty wine. 1 Note

Woodinville Wine Cellars Sauvignon Blanc -2005 (WE-58688)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

Very fresh and crisp, with mixed flavors of melon, grapefruit, pineapple and a glimmer of celery. It finished with a suggestion of sweetness—residual sugar or just very ripe Red Mountain fruit? Either way, it’s a well-crafted, tasty effort. 1 Note
