Profile Image

Decent everyday fare, a grassy wine with extremely dry flavors of grapefruit and a bit of complexity. It’s well made and has some elegance. Turns tart and bitter on the finish, with the taste of citrus rind. 1 Note

Coturri Winery Zinfandel -2001 (WE-30051)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

Hot and spicy, this is an over-the-top Zin that features ultra-bright cherry, berry flavors. It’s got a canned fruit quality, too. Not for everyone. 1 Note

Kenwood Zinfandel -2001 (WE-31582)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

Lovely, a mountain wine with big, concentrated fruity flavors of cherries, raspberries and sweet blueberries, and big, firm tannins. Yet those tannins are ripe and sweet. Floods the mouth with fruit, and leaves behind vanilla, oaky shadings. 1 Note

Benziger Sauvignon Blanc -2000 (WE-17582)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

White stone fruits, some smoke and toast, and ample spice makes the entrance to this wine really inviting. There’s plenty of richness to the mouth, which is jammed with lemon, lime and a balancing dryness not unlike chalk. The fade is pure and dry, offering long nuances of spicy oak and white pepper. It’s a wine that’s integrated and satisfying. 1 Note

Tres Sabores Sauvignon Blanc -2008 (WE-111584)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

There’s a good crunch of mouthwatering acidity on this wine, like biting into a green apple or slice of pineapple, both of whose flavors are here, along with gooseberries and a distinct taste of nutmeg. The wine is very dry. Creaminess adds needed richness, but it’s still a tart wine. 1 Note

Verve Syrah -2006 (WE-106217)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

Verve continues to rock with their new Syrah. Fire up the barbie with steak or pork chops to eat with this lusty, full-bodied red wine. It’s dry and tannic, with rich, complex flavors of blackberries, black currants, pepper and a sweet, salty meaty note, like the char on a broiled steak. 1 Note

Work Merlot -2004 (WE-91888)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Tasty, with pie-filling cherries, blackberries and currants accented with smoky oak, but a little on the soft side. Fully developed, so drink now. 1 Note

Work Syrah -2004 (WE-91889)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

Good in many respects, from the dryness and rich, intricate tannins to the pepper-accented black currant, chocolate and anise flavors. But there’s a touch of overripe, Porty raisins, and the wine is too soft for ageability. 1 Note

Joseph Swan Vineyards Pinot Noir -1999 (WE-18768)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

Right off the bat, the murky, rusty color is a red flag. But the aromas are more or less correct, with mushroom, beet, tomato and woodspice. The flavors are sweet, with marshmallow and brown sugar. 1 Note
