Identical scores from all tasters for this big, dark, rich wine, which is filled with oaky, blackberry and mocha flavors. It’s big, tannic and dense now, heavy in the mouth, but is likely to soften and turn supple with a few years in the bottle. 1 Note

Hard to figure why Rick Sanford would take Pinot grapes from this upscale AVA and make an inexpensive blush. Tastes like press wine, thin and watery, with hardly any fruit flavor to be found, and just barely deserves even this modest score. 1 Note

Light in color, even for a rosé, but there’s nothing shy about the flavors. This wine is powerful and complex in red cherries, tobacco, vanilla and sweet Provençal herbs, and is totally dry, with a fine acidic structure. 1 Note

Fairly dark and full-bodied for a rosé, and you’ll find cherry-plummy flavors with a finish of white pepper. 1 Note

Here’s a nice rosé with some real complexity, and it’s rich enough to stand in for an actual red Pinot Noir. Basically dry, with a silky texture, it has cherry, herb and vanilla flavors that are complemented with crisp acidity. 1 Note

Most cool-climate Rieslings are made dry. This one pays hommage to Germany. With its acidity and honeysuckle, citrus and peach flavors, it’s off-dry to sweet, with 2.4% residual sugar. 1 Note
