Domaine Lafond Rosé -2007 (WE-106945)

A stunning rosé, with fantastically vibrant pink color. Aromas of limes, berries and white peaches are simultaneously assertive yet refined and elegant. Medium-bodied, without any sense of heaviness or alcohol. 1 Note

Domaine Pélaquié Rosé -2005 (WE-61144)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Slightly lighter in color than the other 2005 Tavels but no less flavorful, this is a balanced, classy wine with cherry and white chocolate notes that harmonize nicely on the nose and the palate. Not too complex; it’s like getting comfortable in a familiar chair. 1 Note

Delas Frères Rosé -2009 (WE-116923)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Rich salmon color with coppery flecks. Slightly subdued aromas of candied cherry, strawberry and lime drops. Quite broad, earthy and a viscous texture. Flavors of baked strawberry jam. Slightly intrusive warmth on the finish that cuts off the fruit. 1 Note

Les Vignerons de Tavel Rosé -2005 (WE-61156)

Tavel is one of France’s best-known rosés, and the local co-op (Les Vignerons de Tavel) accounts for approximately 45 percent of the appellation’s production. Thankfully, at least from the 2005 vintage, quality is high and prices reasonable. There are several cuvées bottled and marketed in the U.S., but one of my favorite 2005s was Les Lauzeraie, which boasts lots of mineral and crushed stone aromas. It’s quite fruit-driven and rich on the palate, full of cherries and watermelon, while the silky texture gives ita slight edge over some of the other cuvées. 1 Note

Les Vignerons de Tavel Rosé -2005 (WE-61139)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Slightly darker than most Tavel, this cuvée from the co-op is more mineral and less fruited, yet also more alcoholic and bigger than the others. The result is a bit clunkier and not as harmonious, but still a good drink. 1 Note

Les Vignerons de Tavel Rosé -2005 (WE-61162)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

Has a Mourvèdre-ish quality to its aromas, sort of like tree bark and briary fruit with a touch of muscularity. Blackberry, plum and mushroom flavors stand out as being different from the rest of the Tavel crowd, but not necessarily better or worse. 1 Note

Domaine de la Genestière Rosé -2005 (WE-61165)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

Clean aromas of strawberries and cherries. This Tavel is on the heavier side, with white chocolate notes weighing down the berry fruity. But it’s still reasonably balanced, thus it presents itself as being rich rather than heavy. 1 Note

Gabriel Meffre Rosé -2005 (WE-61171)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

Has a coppery tinge to it, but the real surprise is the bouquet—redolent of cedar. A portion of the wine is matured in oak, and it shows in the dry, woody notes that partially cover the charming berry fruit. 1 Note
