A Wine

Quadri Pinot Grigio -2005 (WE-56471)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

Zippy and fresh, with floral aromas and beautifully underscored mineral notes that reinforce its overall snap and pop. More stone fruit and floral flavors in the mouth are accompanied by mouth-cleansing acidity. Imported by Banville & Jones Wine Merchants. 1 Note

Smoky and toasty, but lean. The palate is sour, with a heavy shot of lime pith. The tangy, thin finish doesn’t bring it back from the edge. Lean and mean. —M.S. 1 Note

A new entry to the U.S. market, the Demi-Sec is slightly sweet, but probably not sweet enough to go with a full-blown dessert. It starts with attractive pear and anise notes, then finishes with hints of maple syrup and malt. 1 Note

Rotari Champagne Blend -NV (WE-3309)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

A simple and soft sparkling wine, with a bready nose, but also a significant musty note. Light mouthfeel, mild peach flavors, and a dry finish. Simple, and would be more appealing without the musty note. 1 Note

Rotari Champagne Blend -NV (WE-8801)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Here’s a vigorous bubbly that impresses for the strength of its acidity and its fine cleanliness. The aroma is shy, even austere, just faintly suggesting diluted lime in water, and the flavors, also austere, are of lime. The wine asserts itself through power. It finishes rough and scoury, yet there’s something easy to like about it. 1 Note

Gold in color, with aromas of wheat bread and Golden Delicious apples. Lots of fresh peach, apple and tangerine on the palate make for a pleasing flavor profile, while it finishes full and toasty. Nothing overwhelming, but rock solid as a whole. Imported by Prestige Wine Imports Corp. 1 Note

Rotari’s nonvintage bubbly places the emphasis on fruit, not yeasty, toasty elements. Pear and lemon curd notes glide into a soft, easy finish. 1 Note

Pink in color, with a light, fading bubble bead. Simple in terms of aromatics, showing a hint of peach and berry. Zesty stone-fruit flavors are offset by some drying soda-cracker notes. Finishes clean and zesty. 1 Note

Rotari Chardonnay -NV (WE-39103)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Aromas of vanilla, pear and banana are light and sweet, almost like a glazed doughnut might smell. Apple and melon carry the palate, while the fresh finish is fruity and a little bit sharp. 1 Note

This wine is 90% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Noir. It’s fresh and fragrant, just sweet enough to draw you in. The fruit, however, is on the leaner, tighter side of things, and the feel across the palate is high-toned. With a touch more richness it would be friendlier. Best Buy. —M.S. 1 Note
