Very crisp and green, this offering from the broadest Loire area appellation comes off like a Kiwi more than a Frenchie. It's brisk, with almost sharp green herb notes and a touch of the (oh, yes) cat-pee note that so many have. It's tangy and light, a very good example of that style (if that's your cup of tea). 1 Note

You wonÕt pick up any oak here, but the fruit is interesting and vibrant, smacking of ripe green apples and even more opulent peaches. ItÕs springtime fresh in the mouth, nice and round with a suggestion of fruity sweetness. 1 Note

An almost Sauvignon Blanc-like palate of light lemon and mineral flavors melts into more citrus, plus green herbs and vegetables, on the finish. Lots of vanilla, plus a perfumey-floral sweetness, marks the bouquet. 1 Note

So light, dry and taut, you might mistake this for a Sauvignon Blanc with its grapefruit profile and high acidity. Still, the cleansing tartness is likeable, if not entirely expected. This will work as an apéritif or paired with lighter foods. 1 Note

A rustic wine, with earthy, tree-bark aromas and lean, sparse flavors that just barely veer into grapefruit. Very dry and acidic; it puckers the palate. Lean and tart. Will satisfy those who like this kind of wine, but doesn’t have much to do with Chardonnay. Kosher. 1 Note

It’s a wine with the softness of ripe Chardonnay and the lightness and freshness that comes from cool-climate western Loire vineyards.
