From a site that is actually just on the Washington side of Canada’s Okanagan wine region, this light but very stylish wine shows concentrated pear flesh flavors right in the core. Surprising length and texture. 1 Note

Sharp, spicy, tastes of apples, with plenty of flesh. Ripe and straightforward, showing none of the sugar, vanilla and excessive oak chip flavors of most cheap Chardonnays. Solid winemaking, juicy acids, and a fine food wine for six bucks. 1 Note

For Washington Merlot this really sets the bar for bargain basement wines. It’s solidly crafted, with clean black cherry fruit, firm acidity, light but supple tannins, and a long, refreshing finish. No hint of excess green or stem or anything funky; it’s easily the best $6 Merlot in the country. 1 Note

Very strong for the price point; this has cassis and tar, spice and herb along with tart, berry-flavored fruit. Acids are strong and provide a good underpinning, and the tannins carry a fair amount of herbaceousness. This has the heft and muscle of much more expensive wines. 1 Note

Don’t look for richness at this price, but you will find a clean, straightforward wine, with supple, ripe fruit flavors and surprising midpalate weight. There’s nothing flabby, watery, thin or fake about it. 1 Note

Very nice effort, tart and bracing, with citrus peel adding an edgy bitterness to the finish. Fragrant and easy-drinking. 1 Note

The blend is 60-40; the figgy flavors and slightly woolly texture of the Sémillon matches nicely to the crisp Chardonnay green apple fruit. A pleasant, soundly made quaffer. 1 Note

Very floral, but really not too much like what you expect from Gewürz. Grapefruit, mint, melon and fennel flavors, but also an odd chewing gum taste. Another downfall is the short acidity, which fails to drive the wine in a positive direction. 1 Note
