A Wine

Henschke White Blend -2003 (WE-32258)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

A straightahead, flavorful wine, this 60-40 blend has pleasant grass, hay and white stone fruit flavors, and a viscous mouthfeel. Finishes with more white peach. Unfortunately not exported to U.S.; Stephen Henschke says that it is most prevalent in Australian cafés. 1 Note

Torbreck Muscat -2002 (WE-32299)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

Found only at Torbreck’s cellar door and a few Australian restaurants, this is 100% Muscat a Petit Grains. It’s fresh and springy, and tastes like buttercups, lemondrops, and other pretty things. Smells like perfume, and fresh-cut grass. A very good end to a very good evening. 1 Note

Barossa Valley Estate Shiraz -2000 (WE-43610)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

Now showing unusual aromas of eucalyptus, roasted fruit and pickle barrel. It’s supple in the mouth, with over-the-top stone fruit flavors and fresh herb accents. Finishes on a bitter-chocolate note. Drinking well now. 1 Note

Barossa Valley Estate Shiraz -1999 (WE-43611)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

Fir tree, orange liqueur and meaty aromas; the palate offers a veneer of vanilla enveloping raspberry, plum and chocolate flavors. Not as lush as some of the older wines; feels crisp and lively in the mouth. Cranberry flavors punctuate a crisp finish. 1 Note

Barossa Valley Estate Shiraz -1998 (WE-43612)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

From a terrific vintage, and still going strong. Smells great—like beef and leather, with black fruit underneath. In the mouth, it’s structured and bright, its pure berry fruit operating in easy harmony with accents of pencil eraser and caramel. Finishes long. Drinking well now, but could easily go through 2015 or so. 1 Note
