This is the sixth vintage for this wine, and there is no question that Klipsun’s SB is something special. The clean, barrel-fermented effort is quite dry, clean and toasty. It’s been barrel aged sur lie in French oak (half new). Just 5% Semillon is added, but it gives the mouthfeel a touch of lanolin. 1 Note

This Cabernet Sauvignon, finished with 11% Cabernet Franc, is textural and refined, enhanced with floral character (violets), and tight and spicy fruit. It’s compact, with even tighter barrel flavors laced in. Tannins are graceful and proportionate; the wine has breed and elegance. 1 Note

Previously called Cuvée Le Blanc, this Rhone-style white blend is 62% Viognier, 26% Roussanne and 12% Marsanne. The wine is a bit dull, as if the fruit has already begun oxidizing. The finish falls off a cliff. 1 Note

All Champoux vineyard fruit, this Bordeaux blend—71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 8% Cab Franc, 4% Petit Verdot—is fragrant, textural, and complex. Proportionate and showing a lush panoply of fruits, chocolate and baking spices, it’s both accessible and structured for medium-term aging. A lovely companion to the winery’s Ciel du Cheval. 1 Note

Dark and sappy, this has a wonderful floral top note, and then what comes in is a lot of sappy, juicy berry fruit. The barrel toast is proportional to the tannins and the fruit; it’s a sappy, dark, ripe, tannic wine for those who like the power of Petite Sirah, but ultimately want more structure and acid. 1 Note

Grapes from one of the valley’s top vineyards create this Bordeaux blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot and 7% Cab Franc. Fragrant with scents of sandalwood, rose petals, toast and lead pencil, the wine grudgingly opens out into a beautifully balanced, elegant palate of sweet cherry, cranberry and pomegranate.
