Though medium-bodied, this wine is a serious lightweight in terms of flavor. If you're looking for an essence of melon water with a lemon garnish to keep you cool, look no further. If it's a complex wine you want, probably best to keep looking. 1 Note

Airén is a big-crop white grape that is usually distilled into brandy or made into Sherry. But here we see it as a dry white table wine, and while it is limited in scope, the wine’s punch-bowl approach and cleansing lime and kiwi flavors are decent. 1 Note

There’s a reason Airén is used as a base grape for brandy and Sherry wines, and it’s because it’s not up to table-wine quality, even at the value price point. This wine is corny and lacks freshness. It’s dull, wayward and offers little to no structure. Barely drinkable. 1 Note

Surprisingly serious for Airen, the workhorse white of La Mancha. There was clearly no glue factor, a k a the brandy distillery, ever in line for these grapes, which were vinified in that clean, steely style that works well in cool years like 2007. Smells and tastes like a good northern Italian Pinot Bianco or blend. Dry melon and papaya for fruit, and a little almondy. Good with fish. 1 Note
