Plump, juicy and sweet fruity flavors are packed into this simple wine. The tannins are rich and dusty. Don’t look for depth or sophistication beyond the lipsmacking flavors, just enjoy its everyday price. 1 Note

A pleasant enough wine, with melon and apple flavors at its core. Round and smooth on the finish 1 Note

Cline makes interesting, offbeat red blends, and this composite of Syrah, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Alicante Bouchet and Mourvèdre comes from vineyards scattered all over California. It’s a hearty, lusty wine, expressive in peppery cherry and mulberry flavors, and nicely dry. You’ll be surprised at how rich it is at this price. 1 Note

Here’s a simple, jammy wine, packed with ripe blackberry, cola, coffee and peppery spice flavors, with a dry, tart finish. Most of it comes from the Sonoma Coast appellation. 1 Note

There’s a great deal of rich flavor in this Syrah. It’s packed with sweet black cherry and blackberry flavors, with hints of mocha and gingersnap. The tannins are a little rough, but it’s really a great value. 1 Note

Although this wine is a little astringent, this is a decent price for a Syrah with a good chunk of Sonoma Coast and Carneros fruit. The wine is totally dry, with rich tannins and a finish that’s elegant and food-friendly. 1 Note

Tough and gritty, with fruit-flavored power bar flavors of cherries, chocolate, honey and nougat. But not bad for the price. 1 Note

Full dark berry aromas and flavors and classic pepper accents mark this very likeable wine. Cocoa and meaty elements add a bit of complexity not necessarily expected at this price. Kept lively by its brisk, but not sharp acidity, it finishes peppery with a tart-sweet profile. This straightforward, delicious wine exemplifies how competitive California can still be, despite the trend to priciness. 1 Note

At this price, fans of Viognier’s exotic side will stock up by the case. Shows an array of tropical fruit, wildflower and spice flavors that finish in a crisp, honeyed aftertaste. Drink very cold. 1 Note
