Throughout this wine is an herbiness typical to South African wines. In this case, the herbal notes are offset by toast, cream, peach and lemon. This has very good body, finishing with intense fruit. 1 Note

Many good bargains like this interesting Shiraz can be found from the Robertson region. Vanilla and leather play large roles, with Provençal herb aromas and flavors of purple fruit. Firm tannins and a hint of sweetness keep high acidity in check. Imported by Cape Classics. 1 Note

Apple pie and fig, along with some lemon, lime and peach, are found in this friendly wine from the De Wet family estate dating back to the 17th century. The finish is broad with toasted oak and vanilla. Pair with seafood. 1 Note

This lively Chardonnay starts with lemon, lime and pear on the nose, followed by a terrific combination of crisp citrus fruit and oaky, white fruit roundness. Elegant but fun, it’s a perfect food wine. Think spicy ethnic cuisine, grilled seafood, salads. 1 Note

Fresh but creamy with layers of orange blossom, toast and citrus, this Chardonnay offers a vibrant, multifaceted character at a very reasonable price. Minerality lifts the fruit and gives the white a food pairing advantage. 1 Note

Tart and bright and not terribly complex, this is nonetheless a good value. There’s minerality and spice there too, which spicy grilled lamb or beef will enhance. 1 Note

A nose of fennel, mocha and plum, followed by a burst of earthy smoked meat, blackberry and cherry flavors, give this wine a masculine edge. Not overly complex but certainly enticing, the wine is both rich and sensible, and will pair well with BBQ, lamb and spiced meat dishes. 1 Note
