A great value in a serious, complex white dinner wine. Shows flashy peach and mint aromas that are fragrant and inviting. Ultrarich, with intense citrus and peach fruit. Nutty and buttery. Notable for its acidity. Shows real nerve and liveliness. Best Buy. 1 Note

Two-thirds Chardonnay, one-third Viognier. An unusual blend that brings forth Chard’s apple, peach and vanilla aromas and flavors, and Viognier’s more exotic tropical fruit and floral notes. Well-crafted and ripe; dry and with good structure. Try serving it blind and seeing if your friends can guess what it is. 1 Note

True to winemaker Bob Lindquist’s style, this blended Syrah relies more on complexity and spice to win tasters’ hearts than fruit and raw power. Smoky, meaty and peppery notes rest on a lean structure, finishing with a flourish of bright cherry flavor. 1 Note

Not another cookie-cutter Chardonnay, this wine emphasizes citrus and mineral notes. Some herb or floral aromas add complexity. On the lean side; it’s piquant, clean and crisp. 1 Note

A blend of Syrah, Mourvèdre and Grenache. Such a pretty nose, with berry, earth, chocolate, plum and blueberry notes. Young and tight now, but you’ll love the intense fruit and spice as well as the complexity and balance. Give it a few years and enjoy with grilled meat. 1 Note

Instantly appealing for its well-oaked flavors of ripe tropical fruits, intense spices and clean, zesty acidity. There’s a streak of sweet-and-sour lees throughout. A relative value considering its pedigree. 1 Note

Shows the classy elegance of all Qupe’s Syrahs, although it’s thinner and rougher than the more expensive bottlings. Still, for the price, this wine is nicely dry and intricate in blackberry and crushed pepper flavors. 1 Note

Syrah dominates this year’s fun blend, with Grenache and Mourvèdre. It’s quite good and satisfying. The cherry, herb, tobacco and mocha flavors are restrained by rich, smooth, fully ripened tannins. A delicate, easy wine, but it has deep waters. 1 Note
