The Crossings continues to be a reliable source of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc at a reasonable price. The 2009 seems almost sweet in its intensity of ripe nectarine fruit, but there’s enough grapefruit for balance and just a trace of herb on the finish. 1 Note

This medium-bodied Chardonnay displays some vegetal notes of canned corn and a slightly oily texture on the finish. 1 Note

From the Awatere Valley, this wine is densely packed with tightly wound fruit flavors reminiscent of passion fruit, melon and grapefruit. A touch of smoke adds complexity. Fairly full-bodied, with good length and intensity, it picks up some extra spice notes on the finish. As good as it is now, it may even improve over the next six months. Editors’ Choice. 1 Note

Ripe notes of honey and peaches are balanced on the nose by celery, dill-like, herbal qualities. The palate features mouthfilling flavors of white nectarines, melons and figs that fade gently into smoky complexity on the finish. 1 Note

Pungently herbal, but filled with grapefruit and a hint of peach at the same time, offering a wonderful balance of ripe fruit character with herbal, savory notes. Easy to drink: It’s full and round in the mouth, with good persistence. Imported by W.J. Deutsch & Sons. 1 Note

From the Awatere subsection of Marlborough, this wine is all about balance and tang. The nose offers cantaloupe, white peach and a welcome hint of green pepper. Tangerine and melon fruit mix on the palate, which is defined by its stony feel. The finish is ample and quite citrusy, and overall this wine features a bright, likable disposition. 1 Note

Very crisp and fresh, this is filled with citrusy pleasures—lime and grapefruit—but also features passion fruit and a pungent, herbal streak. Zingy and refreshing. 1 Note
