Tortoise Creek Sauvignon Blanc -2001 (WE-19891)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

Passion fruit, white pepper and mildly overripe pear and apple aromas lead into a juicy, lively palate defined by flavors of orange and pepper. The acids are good, so the wine feels and tastes fresh. And while you wouldn’t call it a sophisticated drink, it has zip and ample varietal character. 1 Note

Tortoise Creek Merlot -2003 (WE-37188)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

Medium-weight, with just enough supple tannins to provide a modicum of structure, this soft, easygoing Merlot boasts plummy fruit and notes of coffee and brown sugar. Finishes with hints of dried herbs and tea leaves. 1 Note

Tortoise Creek Syrah -2003 (WE-37189)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

Plum and blackberry aromas, accented by black pepper give this a sense of varietal identity, backed by more pepper and plum on the palate. Tannins are ripe, imparting a silky mouthfeel, while the finish turns a bit rough, though not unfriendly. Good burger wine. 1 Note

Tortoise Creek Chardonnay -2003 (WE-37190)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

This unoaked Chardonnay has some sligtly nutty qualities on the nose, allied to a bit of peach. It's unabashedly ripe, a bit heavy and alcholic, but at least it offers more texture than your typical Pays d'Oc Chard. Pear and spice flavors round out the package. 1 Note

Tortoise Creek Chardonnay-Viognier -2003 (WE-37193)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

A deceptive wine, in that it seems full-bodied but ultimately lacks concentration and depth. Melon and spice flavors support modest floral aromas. 1 Note

Tortoise Creek Sauvignon Blanc -2003 (WE-37192)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

Ripe- and fresh-smelling--peach-like, with overtones of pink grapefruit. Plump and slightly viscous in the mouth, offering pink grapefruit and melon flavors. A bit low in acid, likely a result of the tremendously hot vintage, but still tasty. 1 Note

Tortoise Creek Red Blend -2000 (WE-12636)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

This Rhône blend (70% Syrah-30% Mourvèdre) just doesn't come together. A sour edge shows early and prevails throughout. Thin, it shows less body and texture than other value reds tasted, as well. 1 Note

Tortoise Creek White Blend -2000 (WE-12637)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

A nicely balanced simple white blend with a melon and white peach bouquet. It's light in weight with an even mouthfeel. H oney and vanilla notes add interest, as does a touch of white pepper on the finish. Best consumed now. 1 Note

Tortoise Creek Sauvignon Blanc -2000 (WE-12638)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

This offering idsplays some of the fuller fig and nut side of Sauvignon Blanc, as well as the lime and melon seen more often in the less expensive bottlings. Even and medium weight, it's full, but not intense, with a chalky note on the back end. Drink now. 1 Note
