Lifted cherry and floral aromatics carry with them a hint of barrel char in this medium-bodied, elegantly styled blend of 51% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petit Verdot, 11% Cabernet Franc and 9% Malbec. It’s admirably supple and harmonious from start to finish. Drink now–2015. 1 Note

Trinity Hill Pinot Noir -2006 (WE-87952)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

Smells just gorgeous, combining hints of beet greens, black cherries and charry oak, but comes across as a little lacking in texture and length. Still, it’s a pretty wine, light in body and delicate on the palate. Drink now. 1 Note

Trinity Hill Pinot Noir -2007 (WE-87953)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

Hawke’s Bay isn’t known as a Pinot Noir region, but this winery perennially turns out respectable efforts. The 2007 is intense and beefy, with flavors that run toward black cherry, cola, chocolate and coffee. It is slightly astringent on the finish, so offer it alongside red meats. 1 Note

Trinity Hill Cabernet Sauvignon -1998 (WE-11008)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

The intense combination of vanilla, cassis and black-cherry aromas results in an almost syrupy sensation—before even tasting the wine. On the palate, it is rich and full, but not cloying in the least, thanks to juicy acids and a strong streak of mint. Mildly tannic; can be drunk now or aged a few years. 1 Note

Trinity Hill Pinot Noir -2003 (WE-48094)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

From a region of New Zealand better known for its Bordeaux varieties and gaining a growing reputation for Syrah, this Pinot delivers smoky, charred scents, meaty, plum and black cherry flavors and a finish that’s surprisingly firm given the softness of the mouthfeel. Trinity Hill Syrah -2006 (WE-85429)

Most Recent Tasting Note:

Profile Image

There’s a lot of excitement in New Zealand over Syrah right now, and wines like this are one good reason why. Plum and berry fruit shows good ripeness, without sacrificing the peppery notes that define cool-climate Syrah. It’s medium-bodied and crisp, weighing in at a reasonable 13.5% alcohol, and picking up some pleasant espresso and black-olive flavors on the finish. Drink 2010–2015. 1 Note
