In 2004, Alder Yarrow typed the words “wine blog” into Google. Almost unfathomably, at that time, that Google search returned zero result (a sharp contrast to 37,300,000 today). As Alder puts it, that was the first day of the rest of his life. This epiphany yielded Vinography.com, one of the most influential wine blogs online today.
What’s amazing is that the man who was dubbed “The Wine Industry’s Brightest Cyberstar” by San Francisco Magazine and who gets contacted by New York Times wine writers for the inside scoop on San Francisco’s wine bar scene merely moonlights as wine blogger. The rest of his days are spent running his interactive design and strategic consulting firm.
Alder is an indiscriminant wine drinker but pins his favorites as, “Friulian white wines, white Chateauneuf-du-Pape, white Rioja, Pinot Noir of all kinds but especially old Burgundies, white Burgundy, Champagne, and oddball grape varieties of various stripes.”
We highly recommend a visit to Vinography.com to peruse Alder’s wine reviews, bar reviews, or just some good old ramblings and rants.
