Sam Meddis may not have lived during the time of Billy the Kid, but today, in addition to serving as the Editor of the USA Today Technology section, he is known as Vino the Kid (thanks to his widely-read wine blog, vinothekid.com.
In the mid-1990s, a fascination for the internet (then the equivalent of the “Wild West”) led Sam to USA Today. Over a decade later, the Italian-born tech guru unites his knowledge of the internet with his hobby, through his wine blog. Through vinothekid.com, Sam aims to scour the world and/or web in search of the best wine bargains along with the latest and greatest in wine news.
Best of all, there’s no snobbery in Vino The Kid’s selections. At family dinners “wine was seen as something basic to a meal, as important as a crusty slice of bread,” and so it is his mission to help us all find great value wines to have on the table each night. We salute him in that endeavor!
