What Would Alpana Drink?

At the age of 26, Alpana Singh had already passed her final exam making her the youngest person ever to become a Master Sommelier. (The exam has a 3% pass rate.) It’s not surprising that her motto for life is, “When all else fails, open a bottle of wine,” and that her favorite wine memories are "impromptu occasions when pulling a cork on a bottle just made the whole thing more special.” Sounds like we're on the same page.

Alpana has grown into one of the nation’s most reputable sommeliers, serving as the Director of Wine and Spirits for Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, Inc. and host of the four time Emmy Award-winning restaurant review television show, Check, Please! in Chicago.

Curious about what wine a Master Sommelier would take to a desert island? Read her Q&A with The Daily Sip for the answer and much more.

And to see what Alpana would drink on a day to day basis, be sure to check out her new blog of the same title--one that charts this master somm’s favorite wine journeys, literally and figuratively, with a few favorite recipes to boot (aka: Barefoot Contessa’s Crack Onion Dip).
