  • Publish Date: Oct 21, 2009

An artisanal producer of Syrah and Pinot Noir from Sonoma, Olson Ogeden makes wines using “traditional” methods, but acknowledges that “trial and error” and “creative innovation” are key ingredients to their success.

True of many of the best things in life, wouldn’t you say?

Whether you believe winemaking is pure art, pure science, or somewhere in between, the alchemy behind Olsen Ogden’s 2007 Sonoma Coast Pinot is working. With a dark Cherry rim, an even darker cherry core, and stewed cherry flavors throughout, this is a black cherry-lover’s wine. A classically fruit-forward Sonoma Coast Pinot, it also offers some wonderful reminders of Burgundy with its herbal character and bright acidity on the finish.

With only only 367 cases produced and priced a very friendly $32/bottle, you should get in while the gettin's good, or you’ll have to wait another year for the magic to happen. They even offer a clever 2-bottle “Pinot Pack” of their 2007 Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley Pinots for $72. You'll be the Thanksgiving favorite if you roll up with Link text these bottles in hand.

Olsen Ogden wines are only available on their website, so make a new discovery at olsonogdenwines.com.
