Ever dream of trying your hand at winemaking? Ok, not the hard-core, super-sciency, spend your days blending juice from different vineyard lots, but the “a little bit of this, and a little bit of that” and “Presto! I just made some wine.” kind?

As luck would have it, you too can become a wine blending expert, with the Fusebox by Crushpad (the San Francisco based urban winery). Armed with six 375ml bottles of single-varietal wine (Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbec), pipettes, graduated cylinders, and all sorts of tools you haven’t used since seventh grade chemistry lab (trust us, you’ll enjoy this far more), the task is to create a red blend you would be proud to put your name on. Think the hands-on fun of Playdough meets the serendipity and whimsical-nature of Chutes and Ladders.

Start by tasting through each of the varietals to discover the aromas, structure and flavor of each. Then use the recipe cards provided to explore famous blends from Napa and Bordeaux. Finally, having tasted the best blends around, you will figure out if you are a great wine-artist, or if you’re better of sipping other people’s creations.

Be careful though, should you prove a worthy winemaker, you may be inspired to make a barrel of your own. Once again, Crushpad can be of service.
