How To Booze as Well as Lose
A group of brave women try to drink and drop pounds.
Recently, a staffer here at The Daily Sip stopped drinking wine for three months, a process that involved lots of sipping and spitting, followed by cursing of a certain doctor's name. By the time the three months were up, said staffer had lost close to ten pounds without much exercising.
As much as we love wine, there's the cold, hard truth that a couple glasses of cabernet pack a caloric punch. So if you're trying to shed some weight but don't want to give up wine, how do you incorporate it into your diet? The six San Francisco ladies behind the blog Eleven Points: Winos on Weight Watchers are in the process of answering that very question.
The funny, encouraging blog is named for the 11 points that a glass of wine costs a Weight Watcher in his or her daily diet. Together, the ladies hope to lose the collective weight of one Backstreet Boy--they're currently halfway home--while still making room for wine in their diets. (We have no idea why a Backstreet Boy as opposed to a Jonas Brother or a Bieber, but to each his own.)
Now, we've all seen reports saying that those who regularly consume alcohol moderately suffer fewer health problems, including weight gain--but our own experiences indicate otherwise. We drink less, we gain less (weight...can't say the same for the social life). Which totally bums us out, but that seems to be the way it is.
If you've had success losing weight while uncoroking wine, however, we want to hear about it. Share your experiences with us and the ladies of Eleven Points here.
