I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love grenache! And in this spanish style it gets its full expression as garnacha. This is probably my favorite under $10 bottle. This is my first time trying the '09 but I don't remember it being as high in alcohol content as in years past. It was still structured well enough with firm tannins so it didn't get carried away or tast like a spirirt at all, but still, 14.5%?! look out for garnacha and don't get burned by the fuego. ;)

Such a good blend of Tempranillo (60%), Grenache (30%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%). I actually tried the regular version ($10) and I was so encouraged by the simple, but alluring red fruit, that I decided to go with the Reserva ($13). I was not disappointed. Very nice red fruit, smooth, balanced, not complex, but a definite improvement over the basic version. It's definitely a wine for grilled meat. Aragon is a hidden gem.

Violet in color, cloves on the nose, medium to full bodied, followed by juicy blackberry fruit, boysenberry with tannins lingering on the finish.

Basket of flavors: green pepper, baking spice, candied finish, ultra tannic finish. Super interesting amalgamation of flavors.

Bright ruby. Impressively complex nose displays fresh raspberry, boysenberry, dark chocolate and rose oil. Fleshy red and dark berry flavors possess impressive depth and richness, with lively acidity adding energy. Oak spices build on the finish, which is broad, sappy and long. This is ready to drink.

A little heat on the on nose (14.5%). Ample tannins, not as much fruit as I was hoping for.

Dark violet in color with peppermint on the nose. A lot of spice along with plum and a lingering finish.

Lacked any fruit character for me- definitely an old vine fruit source. Grenache for me is usually a little more chewy/fruit forward/bell pepper. Was a little lackluster for me.

Drank it last night- 3/15/08. This puppy is ready to go! It's drinking very smooth now, I wouldn't hold onto it much longer. It was sure yummy, went well with Grappolo's involino- eggplant rolled with capellini, tomato sauce and mozzarella.
