Good wine, great meal with mom. Got the wine because it was a cheaper version of Woodward Canyon Walla Walla 2000 that I thought I had with Bernie before the 24 year grade school reunion at Watts.

Expert NoteDecember 19, 2005
Light spicy nose, nice touch of steel, exotic herbs, fresh and crisp with touches of honeysuckle as the wine opens in the glass; smooth and sweet in the mouth, silky texture that is almost oily; spiced fruits; quite intense in the mouth with a good deal of concentration and focus; spicy and hot at the finish; more character in this wine than in most of this varietal. (16.5/20)

Expert NoteDecember 19, 2005
Always one of the better New World Merlots; sweet and rich nose very Merlot, buttery but with a shot of black pepper, black plums, smoke and chocolate; ripe and rich, loaded with fruits and berries, black plums, good tannic backbone; nicely balanced citrus tones; continues to be the industry standard in my book. (17/20)

Expert NoteDecember 19, 2005
Powerful nose with classic ripe, sweet fruit, chocolate, leather, smoked meat nose; very sweet and powerful in the mouth; this is an aggressive Syrah with a somewhat bitter finish at this early stage; the tannins are still pretty assertive and need more time; lots of acidity, taste of bedrock here as well; good for the genre, but needs more time. (16.5/20)
