Tasted on: 1/30/09 Appearance: clear and medium-deep with a purple-ruby color. Nose: pale-medium with aromas of spicy cinnamon, sour cherry, black pepper, and hints of creaminess. Palate: somewhat dry with low acid, medium tannins, and flavors of black cherry, cloves, tobacco, and an interesting tire component. The length is medium. Overall: a very easy-drinking wine. The 05’ date has allowed it to drink even easier. It’s relatively complex with a good body and average finish. The price is just right for this wine. This wine seems quite flexible for not just meat-based dishes, but with certain white-wine type meals as well. I give this an 88.

appearance: clear with pale intensity and a lemon color. nose: clean with medium intensity, with aromas of apples for days, hay, melon, and a barnyard-y type of smell. palate: light sweetness, with average acidity. the body is high, with flavors of kiwi, pineapple, grapefuit, and apricot. the length is below average. overall: average sparkling wine. the fruit is solid, and the flavors are complex. the length is not bad. this is not a sparkling wine that would wow many, but it's a solid sparkler that for the price, is great. i give it an 88.

This blend of Syrah and Grenache comes from vineyards owned by the Jeanjean family. It is soft and gentle, although there are some tannins hiding in the background. The fruits are clean, somewhat jammy, easy to drink.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A great expression of the terroir, this rosé made from 50% Syrah, 40% Grenanche and 10% Cinsault is loaded with garrigue accents (lavender and thyme) among the fresh strawberry and cherry fruit core. Clean and zippy on the finish with a lingering soft spice accent.

Gérard Bertrand Rhône-style White Blend - 2005

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The chalky limestone soil of Pic St. Loup allows the fruit to shine without being overpowering, translating into lively aromas and flavors of fresh red berries, nectarine, banana and ripe pineapple chunks supported by nuances of talcum and sweet pea. The creamy texture and medium weight are somewhat surprising for this aesthetically light rosé, and with the lingering finish and well-balanced acidity.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
White strawberry, hibiscus petals and soft garrigue notes are framed against a creamy and full structure. A touch of spice shines through on the finish, but overall the wine is lively and refreshing.
