Ripe and smooth, with a lot of melon on the nose. Easygoing yet not paunchy, with honey, melon, pear and banana making for a full but likable flavor mix. Dry, long and melony on the finish, with some chalky minerality. Fills the mouth well.

Vanilla and pear aromas are neither exciting nor a turn-off, while the palate is solid, ifa bit tangy and weighty. Overall this is a modest wine that’s on the downturn. It’s not bad but it is flat-edged and bulky. Imported by Palm Bay Imports.

Ferrari’s base Brut (with a 2.5-million-bottle production) is a lovely sparkler with yeasty aromas of freshly baked bread and loads of dried fruit, honey and apricot. The mouthfeel is soft and creamy and this impression is reinforced by its foamy perlage.

Seductive flower and pear aromas create a pretty nose. The mouth is solid although not terribly lively, with distinct orange and apple flavors. The finish is dry and chalky, with a tight grip and mouth-coating viscosity. —M.S.

Ferrari’s Brut Perlé (made with 100% Chardonnay) offers soft, foamy perlage that enhances a sense of softness and fullness on the palate. Crisp and tonic, it drinks very well but it leaves enough body and persistency to fuel a long finish.

The first metodo classico rosé in Italy, this sparkler has a peachy-pink color and aromas that span from peach to yeast. The wine makes a strong impact on the palate with a velvety fruity texture and a long finish. Definitely up to accompanying an entire meal from antipasto through dessert.
