Dried grass and ripe melon come after initial rubber boots and pine resin aromas blow off. A likable wine with a full feel in the mouth and a backdrop of bitterness. The blend consists of Trebbiano and Grechetto, with a smaller component of Chardonnay. Imported by Vinifera Imports.

Montefalco Rosso is a blend of Sangiovese, Sagrantino and Merlot from Umbria in central Italy with aromas of cherry, wild berry, spice and cola. The wine is light and easy-going and would make a good partner to pizza or simple pasta dishes.

High in residual sugar this is a sweet white that is almost too generous with its notes of exotic fruit and candied peach. Beyond those obvious tones is an interesting aromatic layer of vanilla and crème caramel.

Fairly spicy for an Orvieto, with aromas of pepper, wasabi and green herbs in addition to almond and mild white fruits. Nice on the palate, with just enough acid push so that it avoids blandness. Mild apple and peach flavors lead to a round, almondy finish.

There’s a solid oak presence here in the form of chocolate, espresso and spice as well as distinctive tones that recall barbecue sauce, hickory and smoke. You’ll get chewy cherry and sweet blackberry flavors in the mouth as well as thick tannins on the close.

Immediate aromas of blackberry and mature cherry come at you and are followed closely by spice, cola, dark chocolate and cured meat. This hearty Rosso di Montefalco is no puny wine. Indeed, it offers an impressive quality of fruit and dark, thick structure.

There’s a soapy-floral quality to this wine that is reminiscent of honeycomb, honeysuckle and ripe peach. Thick and consistent in the glass, the wine has a creamy feel and some sourness on the finale.
