The 2010 growing season was long and unseasonably cool, resulting in an unusually late harvest. Once the fruit finally ripened in mid-September, we were pleased to discover it was worth the wait. Slightly higher in acid content due to the long, gradual ripening, our 2010 whites have turned out delightfully crisp and well structured. 100% Chardonnay. -PEJU Winemaker Sara Fowler

This Chardonnay expertly marries bright citrus fruit with toasty and floral notes. Hints of vanilla bean and honeysuckle dance gracefully on the tongue calling you back with each sip for more.

This is the perfect Chardonnay in my opinion. Delicously buttery but not overpowering, I almost want to spread in on popcorn...almost. Must be careful with how much you drink as it is 15% alcohol :)

Strong oak/buttery flavor. A little too strong for my liking. Would be great with a rich buttery dessert like creme brulee.

Just tasted this gem at the winery over the past weekend. The chardonnay is big and full yet elegant. Nicely balanced with a slight creaminess, notes of oak, but with tons of fruit including pineapple and coconut. A nice touch of acidity on the finish. Only 709 cases made.

Rich flavors included pronounced oak and nice, tropical fruit such as pineapple. It had nice, crisp acidity and just left a refreshing aftertaste. I was not disappointed. I was bit worried that it may not have been enough to overtake the ham and pungent Swiss cheese filling of chicken cordon bleu, but they well together. If you’re in the mood for a good California-styled oaky Chardonnay, then save yourself a few dollars and go with San Elias. $8

A quaffable Chardonnay, which has a pleasant green apple aroma and a nice golden hue. Initially, the green apples hit you, but it moves on to butterscotch quickly, and then some buttery notes on the finish. It is crisp, but I think a little too acidic and somewhat sweeter than it should be. Chardonnay normally does well in Virginia, but then it's up to the wine maker. I've had some very good to excellent Chard in Virginia (both oaked and unoaked), but this doesn't fit the bill. $15

I have to admit that I gave this 3 1/2 stars because I'm not a huge fan of big, buttery California Chardonnays. I like Burgundy oaked Chards because they dial down on the oak by fermenting it in stainless steel as well. Chablis is really more my style, though. I will say that this Angeline was a good match for our baked pork dinner with buttery potatoes, where an unoaked Chard would not have paired so well. So in this case Angeline was the perfect wine for dinner, and that's really the most important thing. With aromas of citrus and apples, the flavors exhibited bright fruit flavors of the same, buttery French oak, and balanced acidity. It had a refreshing and long finish. Recommend with mussels in butter sauce, pork with a light gravy, and lobster with butter sauce. $13

Very nice Chardonnay from one of Virginia's oldest wineries. This Chardonnay has been served to three different presidents. Barrel fermented, crisp, buttery with a hint of mango. This is Naked Mountain's signature wine. $25
