This is one of my favourite wines from Israel. Even though I'm usually not a huge fan of merlot - this one is different. I remember tasting it for the first time and being captivated on the spot. Just wanted to take another sip & another. It is exceptionally powerful, complex, and has an infinite finish. Gorgeous nose with dark cherries, mint, eukalypt, granite & hints of pomegranate. Rich midpalate, fruity with a nice kick. Needs to open up a bit in the glass. I serve it with sirloin steak or a rib roast cut into generous bloody slices ouzing with fat.

70% merlot, 15 cabernet sauvignon, 15% cabernet franc. Good wine for the price-simple yet very drinkable. Good with red meat.

I wanted to like this one. I have always stuck up for the Merlots of the world, especially since some of my wine drinking friends don't much care for it. But I thought this was very bland. It starts out pretty good on the nose but once I tasted it... nothing. Just really flat and all flavors were pretty faint. Maybe it's that I have been having some bigger cabs lately but I still like a little pop to the merlot and this just did not have it. I doubt I'll be back for this one.

Little sweet but very smooth. Big feel. Fun to drink but a little much toward the sweet end. Reminiscent of a Australian Shiraz.

Really lovely. Firm violet fruit and a suave leathery quality bind together this tight, young wine, but it's already drinking very rewardingly. For many people, it might be a bit unapproachable for now, but I find Bordeaux like this charming. This is a great wine for shutting up inexperienced Merlot-haters.

A great value in a California Merlot. Don't be put off by the Beringer name (some people are due to the mass production). This was the Estate Cellars 2006 and a very nice surprise. A more lively Merlot than expected. Lots of life and some fresh berries. Enjoy!
