What a spectacular wine. The Syrah co-fermented with Viognier (as the name would suggest) totally takes the edge of the tannins in this wine. It's hearty, supple, with a velvety mouthfeel, otherwise offering rich black fruit flavors you'd expect from mountain fruit. Delicious.

This wine’s complexity and structure is impressive with loads of ripe plum, wild flowers, and cherry in the nose, and flavors of plum with mixed dark berries and a sweet cherry finish that never stops. The jammy and textured feel coupled with its fruit flavors lingered for more time than I wished wait for the next sip. 90 points by Wine Spectator ; I highly recommend this wine, and the only thing more amazing than its complexity is its ridiculously low bang for the buck price of $10!

This particular wine possessed great dark fruit in the nose with some black peppercorn. The complexity of the flavor was exhibited by currant, strawberries, cherries, cinnamon and oak. It had a nice, full-bodied feel with good acidity, firm tannins, and a lingering after-taste that persisted for well over a minute. Give this wine a good hour, or aerate in one of those $40 aerators and then give it another 20-30 minutes. This pairs well with steak and other hardy meats. 90 points by Wine Spectator. Highly recommended for quality and price; $14

Color: Dark ruby Aroma: Intense, ripe black fruit, dark chocolate with toasty oak and bacon accents Taste: Earthy, meaty character with notes of allspice. It is rich, lush and very integrated with a smooth finish and lively tannins.

Southern Rhone: the birthplace of Syrah. Dark ruby color. Not much nose to speak of. You really have to swirl intensely to get any kind of scent. The mouth delivers dark fruit, hints of pepper, spices, and perhaps a bit of vanilla on the finish if your paying close attention. They consider themselves "powerful, yet elegant." If you're used to Washington or California Syrah, you will be disappointed. It was good with steak, but I wouldn't drink this for the pure enjoyment and you can't beat the price: $15. Go for the Rhone blends to the north.

Excellent. Reminiscent of French Syrah. Interesting hint of flowers in the aroma, mild tannins, but it has the distinct peppery and spicy flavors of a Syrah. One of the best boutique wineries in Virginia. $24

An interesting barnyard nose with a sweet hint of honey and flowers. The wine ends with a great cinnamon and chocolate finish.
