My reactions to the various 2004s in the Prager lineup were a bit mixed, and this bottling was no exception. It possesses a light mouthfeel that hints at oiliness appropriate to a smaragd designation, but the flavors seem a bit sour and slightly underripe, ranging from quince to gooseberry and finishing with a tart edge.

Starts off with fresh but simple aromas of apple wedges, greens and limes, but shows altogether more interesting flavors—the apple and citrus are complemented by hints of oil or shale. Turns minerally on the finish.

Concentrated and oaky, this wine features superripe tropical fruit and spice aromas and flavors, bolstered by woody vanilla and smoke. Drinks rich and leesy, with well-etched peach, mango and guava flavors. Crisp acidity provides freshness and zest, while the finish is clean and spicy.

Smells intensely floral, an armload of gardenia and forsythia, with additional scents of peaches and kerosene. Has that strong Chenin flavor that always reminds me of hot sealing wax, but there are also apple, mint and peach notes. Just this side of off-dry, a nice, crisp wine with its own distinct personality. Good value.

Basic grapefruit and white peach aromas give way to a palate that’s mostly about lemon and melon. This wine seems to have gone through far too severe a barrel regimen, and to us, popcorn and butter just don’t complement most Sauvignon Blancs.

Despite the grape variety—one not known for producing great wines—this wine presents an attractive blend of citrus and crushed-rock aromas and flavors. Virtually dry, it’s also light in body and clean and refreshing on the finish—a fine apéritif wine. Imported by Chapin Cellars, LLC.

Very crisp, grapefruit and green herbs, here is a wine that touches good acidity, but then misses with its oily texture and white candy flavor. The finish is fresh.

Big, bold wine, ripe fruits pushed forward by wood, some spice, rich in character. This is lush Chardonnay, but with a good mineral edge.

With its pretty medley of honey and peach aromas and a crystalline appearance, this is a quintessential Italian Pinot Grigio. It’s easy, crisp, refreshing, slightly sour in the mouth and without pretense: A great match to summer eating.

Light pear and apple aromas are clean and appealing. Look for a zesty palate with citrus and banana flavors, and then vanilla and spice on the finish. It’s sweetly persistent and well proportioned.
