On the nose, a medley of summer berries, bright cherry, cocoa powder and hints of caramel and butterscotch. On the palate, a beautiful balance of richness and luminosity with flavors of boysenberry, Bing cherry, nutmeg and toffee that lead into a round, memorable finish. This vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from our two estate vineyards -the organically farmed Rutherford Vineyard and sustainably farmed Persephone Vineyard in the northeast corner of the Napa Valley. After harvest, the fruit spent extended maceration time on the skins for deeper color and complex flavor components. It was then aged 18 months in 40% new French and American Oak. The 2007 vintage is comprised of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot and 9% Petit Verdot.

appearance: a bit on the dull side, with low-medium intensity, and a dark ruby color. nose: a clean nose with low intensity and aromas of raspberry, a bit of prune, and an overall musty sort of character. palate: relatively dry with low acid, and an average body. it has flavors of blackcurrant, plum, and eucalyptus. overall: for bulk winje, even this is pretty bad. it's an 04', and even now it hasn't opened much, if there was much to open to begin with. there are no strong flavors in this wine. it's very one-dimensional, and it's a bit lifeless. i give it a 79.

Tastes like the essence of ripe blackberries but as with the best wines, texture is everything. It’s velvety and rich in the mouth, with chewy tannins. On the finish, the blackberry plays on, leaving little room for the oak-nut accents that peek through. Nose has permeating menthol and black pepper notes.

There is plenty of the firm tannins of Cabernet Sauvignon, but this wine, one of the more successful in the French Roots range, is also fully charged with Languedoc denseness and ripeness. It has a proper stalky, black currant finish.

Strongly flavored with smoky, charred oak, the smoke, coffee and espresso flavors ride roughshod over the pretty raspberry and red currant fruit. The poor fruit is overwhelmed; the winemaking seems better suited to bigger, riper, richer fruit.

With polished black currant, cherry, coffee and toasty oak flavors, this Cabernet has lots to like. Its tannins are smooth and thick, but finely-ground, and the overall balance is right up there. This is a winery to watch. Drink now.

Dark in color, with aromas of bacon and spice. The palate is tight-grained and woody, with ample berry fruit peeking through. Firm acids keep it fresh from start to finish, while the only thing holding it back is some hollowness to the midpalate.

Loaded with new oak, which in this case means it's cedary and very mentholly, Under that is some tobacco and coffee. Very drying tannins clamp down on the finish.

Scratchy on the nose, with raspberry and plum aromas. The palate has a generic, rubbery feel and sweet, standard cherry, cassis and plum flavors. Medicinal and rubbery on the finish, but will go well with basic foods like pizza, spaghetti or a burger.
