Very perfumed and aromatic nose, a wonderful mix of sweet lilacs and dusty earth, clay aromas, with an infusion of black cherries, peat, truffles, and sour mash; lots of sweet fruit at the beginning of this wine, a mix of black cherries and pepper; but then the early promise of seduction wanders off, replaced by a tougher wine of grainy tannins and strong citrus flavors; the finish ends up harder and tougher than I like, but others who prefer the edgier wines may find this more appealing; definitely needs quite a bit more time, and the score will likely be higher in the future. Sweet nose with ripe cherry fruit aromas, a bit reticent but well composed, earthen with dusty aromas, complex, clay, peat; sweet and silky in the mouth, lighter than some of the bigger vintages but with nice balance; there is a solid presence of dry tannins that remind you that this is an ’88, but there is a lot more ripe sweet fruit in this wine than many others of this vintage; black cherry fruit and wooden flavors at the end, elegant. Fabulous nose, aromatic and sweet, elegant, refined, perfumed and aromatic with floral scents, wafting sweet fruit and refined esters make for a perfect nose; sweet and seductive in the mouth, floral fruit, slightly woody, perfectly pitched; classic feminine nature here; long finish, mouthcoating and long-lasting flavors, red cherries and black fruits, light and very balanced; this is a great statement of the wine from this appellation.
