A smooth, elegant wine, with subtle blackberry, licorice and chocolate notes. It serves up an almost creamy finish. Sure, it's big and ripe, but itis also refined. Herb notes add complexity, reminding us that Central Valley grapes can make gosh-darned food wine.

Tangy and zippy, with a ginger-like quality that leads to peach, spice, apricot and herbs on the palate. The finish is long and bright, with a lemony edge.

Quite creamy on the palate, with an upfront melon and apple core. Peaches, herbs, citrus and toast are also in evidence, finishing with moderate length.

Well balanced, fruit forward, round and smooth. Surpsingly light but no lightweight, holds it's own. Good start and better finish. In three words and in this order: fruit, silk, toffee. Solid buy for the price ( $16).

Made from grapes harvested from vineyards where the original plantings are from 1900; big aromas, powerful sweet fruit, very Zinfandel with powerful spices and pepper aromas, black fruits, touch of tar, but also red fruits and a lot of freshness in the nose with citrus tones; big and sweet in the mouth; more monolithic than I would have thought from the nose; loads of black fruit; good acidity adds freshness; this is not one of the over-extracted syrupy Zins; however, the wine lacks complexity and depth, which is surprising given its origins; good but simple on the palate; still pleasant and good example of the varietal.
