Citrus blossom and tropical aromas are light and easy. The palate is melony and not too acidic, with standard Asian pear, lychee and citrus flavors. Lively on the finish, and solid overall for under $10.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Fairly ripe, full and attractive, with dark plum aromas. The palate has bounce, jump and a bit of acidic sharpness, while the plum and berry flavors are generic but good. Sweet on the finish; standard and healthy stuff.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The yellow color and oversized punchbowl aromas tell you all you need to know: that this is a wide load with an aggressive, fat nose and a chunky but fragile palate. Unctuous flavors of banana and lemon are forced, while the mouthfeel is unstable. Won’t last for much longer.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Starts out with nice aromas of ripe black fruits and toasty oak, however it drops down in class in the mouth, where pointed, jabby acidity causes tang and sourness. There are good berry and plum flavors to offset the tartness, but it finishes narrow and snappy. Pretty good but needs better balance and structure.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Varietally correct on the nose, but weak, with lychee, tropical fruit and Fantastik cleanser aromas. The palate fails to hold form, yielding an oily, heavy feel along with lemony, mealy flavors. Pithy on the finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Starts out smoky and seemingly ripe, but the nose is the best part. The palate, by contrast, is tight, gritty and the flavors are awkward at best. Really not that consistent and loses focus the more you get into it. Imported by Freixenet USA.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A big, plump Malbec with 14.5% alcohol but also attractive plum, marzipan and earth notes. The palate is nice and fruity as it delivers solid plum and cherry flavors, while the finish is warm and cuddly. More size than style, but it handles its weight well.

In the shrinking under-$10 category, this is a winner. It features solid cherry fruit with tinges of rhubarb, bramble and dry spice, while the palate is fresh, medium in size and tastes of raspberry, red plum and herbs. Simple and straight-shooting Malbec.
