Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Alain Jaume bought the Domaine Grand Veneur in 1979, and its reputation has been steadily increasing. This is a superbly perfumed wine, with great pure black currant fruits, layers of dry tannins and a firm, structured aftertaste. Imported by Kysela Père et Fils.

A full-bodied, mouthfilling rosé from the Côtes-du-Rhône, the 2007 Réserve Grand Veneur features slightly confected cherry aromas and a tangy finish. It’s a solid effort, best served alongside burgers or the like.

A luxury cuvée at this price is becoming a rarity in Châteauneuf, but Les Origines delivers the goods. Subtle cinnamon and nutmeg shadings frame densely packed black cherry flavors. It’s creamy in texture, with a long, velvety finish that lingers elegantly. Drink now–2020.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This supercuvée from Alain Jaume is ripe and modern in style, very smooth and polished. But its juiciness and richness do not lose sight of the power of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and it has fine, dry tannins that leave a sense of good aging potential. Imported by Kysela Père et Fils.

Another solid showing from one of importer Fran Kysela’s stable of Rhône producers. This offering shows plenty of rustic leathery aromas, along with a blend of cherries and blackberries. Not overripe or heavy; the fruit and tanned-hide notes come together in a velour-textured finish.

Full-bodied and lush, with a nose of ripe plums and mint and a concentrated palate of cherry, licorice and café au lait. There's good fruit intensity here and a soft bed of buttery tannins that carry over to the anise-flavored finish. Try with Spanish fare.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Almost half of this wine's production of 1,800 cases came to the U.S., which should make this broad, mouthfilling white relatively easy to find. The largely neutral palate suggests pineapple, honey and cinnamon, with citrus and spice lingering on the finish. Drink now.

Super-ripe black plums and blackberries with attractive woodsy forest floor savory notes. bright juicy flavors of raspberry, mocha, clove and creamy toffee. Smooth, creamy texture but with firm grip to the tannins and a long savory earthy finish. Has nice complexity.

Intense gamy, woodsy, black olive aromas with notes of loganberry, sloe, blackberry and a hint of smoke. Powerful and full-bodied, richly textured with firm tannins but fresh and vibrant across the palate. Very flavorful with layers of black cherry-berry fruit, wild plums, savory meaty notes
