Earthy with some nice acidity. Definitely a wine to drink with food. Paired with shaved coppa and guanciale at District.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A selection of Voge’s oldest vines from an especially granitic southeastern exposure, this is more of everything than the Vieilles Vignes bottling—more intense, smoky, dense and dark. The mouthfeel is rich and nearly syrupy, while the flavors burst with cherries and spice that linger on the finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This 100% Syrah is filled with effusive bright berry fruit, liberally seasoned with a dusting of cracked pepper. It's a little light, but offers an easy-to-drink authentic taste of the northern Rhône at a realistic price.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Fairly ambitious wine with intense lifted, black fruit aromas, licorice, spice and black tea. Quite front-loaded on the palate with intense juicy blackberry-cherry fruit. Full-bodied, crisp, slight granular texture and crunchy tannins. Alcohol generous but not intrusive allowing fruit to come through on the finish.

Fruit-forward, with opening notes of cinnamon and black cherry, followed by a slightly chunky palate framed by soft, supple tannins. Plum and vanilla flavors dominate in the mouth and carry over to the medium finish. Drink up.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Voge has a sure touch with the red wines, but this white is evidently a work in progress. On the plus side, it’s broad in the mouth and reasonably rich. The downside is that it’s perilously low in acidity. Flavors similarly divide, with pear and lemon notes but also a warm, buttery finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Voge is better known for his Cornas, but this Côtes-du-Rhône is a solid value—at press time, it could be found on sale for as little as $12. It’s medium-bodied, with a silky mouthfeel and complex aromas of cinnamon, clove, pepper and cherries. Finishes long and crisp, with delicate tannins and a sense of minerality. Drink now.

Very intense, with a dried fruit, spice, cocoa, leather and pie-crust-dough nose. No tasters doubted the wine’s ripe tart-sweet fruit complexity, but an earthy, musty note bothered some. Round and layered, with fine structure, this finishes long and balanced with coffee and leather notes. Better in 2–3 years.

A barrel-fermented blend of Marsanne and Roussanne, this toasty, leesy, custardy wine is rather rich on the palate, with honeyed cereal flavors and peach overtones that linger on the finish.

Elegant and lighter, in the style of the vintage, with peppery and dried spice notes accenting fresh cherries. Nicely smooth, balanced and easy to drink. Drink–2015.
