Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Scratchy on the nose, with raspberry and plum aromas. The palate has a generic, rubbery feel and sweet, standard cherry, cassis and plum flavors. Medicinal and rubbery on the finish, but will go well with basic foods like pizza, spaghetti or a burger.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Heavily earthy and rubbery smelling, then big and bulky but out of whack on the palate. Tastes buttery and gummy, with generic berry fruit flavors that finish oaky.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Aromas of hot pepper flakes, Chinese mustard, leather and red plum are all over the map. The palate is a bit tart and tangy for Malbec, with mid-level berry flavors and a shot of tartness. Not overly ripe or happy, but with touches of quality.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Early sulfur and rotten-egg aromas are none too attractive, but in the mouth the wine is better. While sweet as sin, the soft, lush palate is a chocolate-lover’s dream, and the finish is like mocha ice cream. Low acidity makes the structure sort of weak, but drink it now and that may not matter.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Reasonably solid on the nose, with black cherry, plum and coconut aromas. The palate is another story; it’s acidic and sharp, with sour plum and underdone berry flavors. Short as can be on the finish, and sour.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Cherry and earth aromas have a hint of leather, which adds rusticity to the wine. Can’t-miss notes of clove and nutmeg seriously bolster flavors of cherry and plum, and by the time the finish rolls around, that clove quality is magnified. Ultimately this is a spicy, leaner Cab, but good acids and tannins keep it upright.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Short on freshness and focus; the wine starts out a touch musty, and in the mouth, flavors of cotton candy, strawberry and red licorice seem confectionary. Caramel on the finish and a chewy ending texture are the lasting impressions.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Blackberry and plum aromas have just enough leather and horsehide accents to give this wine character. The mouth is centered squarely on purple fruits like plum and wild blackberry, and the feel and finish are comfortable and fresh. Lively and with all the basics in the right places.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Standard fare, with baked, rubbery aromas and a tarry undercurrent. The palate is dense and packed, with sweet, medicinal flavors of brandied cherries and cassis. Rubbery and leathery in terms of mouthfeel, with a roasted, reduced quality to the finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Opens with thin fruit and alcoholic burn, and while the wine is always hollow in its middle and basic, it does offer adequate plum, raspberry and peppery flavors. Toasty and bitter on the finish, with an o.k. mouthfeel.
