Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Made in a white Bordeaux style, this Sauvignon Blanc is bone dry and crisp in acidity. It has rich, tart flavors of lemons, limes, grapefruit and passionfruit. Impressive for its crisp structure and complex elegance.

Here’s a nice, clean, elegantly structured 100% Sauvignon Blanc. It has flavors of oranges, grapefruits and peaches. Although there’s no new oak on it, the notes of sweet vanilla and buttered toast are strong.

There’s a tannic toughness to this young wine. It’s like chewing on dried black currants. Once they start to dissolve in the mouth, lovely flavors of sweet blackberries emerge, and then take over through a very long, spicy finish. It’s quite a beautiful Napa Cabernet, but it does need time. Best 2013–2019.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
There’s something very fine and compelling about this Merlot-based Bordeaux blend. It’s powerful in oak-inspired blackberry, black cherry and black currant flavors, but even more noteworthy is the quality of the tannin structure, which is firm and classic. Just feels rich and dramatic, with great weight and density. Give it a few years in the cellar to mellow, and it should develop for a decade or more.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Very rich, with freshly crushed pineapple, grilled ripe peach, buttered toast and caramelized vanilla cream flavors. Could have greater structure, as it’s a little soft for all that weight, but it’s a fancy Chardonnay.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Bone dry and closed in tannins, this Cab requires time to come into its own. The argument in favor of ageability is balance. It has the supple, promising feel of a young wine that will blossom in the cellar, with a rich core of black currant, mineral and cedar flavors. Best after 2012, but decant if you open the bottle before then.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is a big, powerful Bordeaux blend that clearly needs time. Tasted in early 2009, it’s very tannic and dry, although you can detect the massive cassis and plum flavors. It would be a pity to open before 2012, if you can keep your hands off it. Could eventually stun. Alpha Omega is a winery to watch.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This is a Bordeaux blend. It’s very dry and very tannic, and high alcohol gives it a not unpleasant heat that lifts the blackberries and cherries into roasted fruit territory. You’ll find additional notes of dark chocolate, licorice and pepper. Could develop over the long haul.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A Bordeaux blend, with Merlot and Cab Franc blended in, this supple wine sources its grapes from some well-known vineyards in the valley. It’s fruity and spicy, with blackberry, cherry and mint flavors. A few years in the cellar could soften the rough edges.

A blend of the two Cabs with Merlot, this is a soft, gentle wine. It’s forward in ripe cherries, red currants and blueberries, with a cedary edge.
