Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Quite creamy and sweet on the nose, with marshmallow and candy aromas that are not that convincing. Solid in the mouth, with herbal fruit, chocolate and plump tannins, body and extract. Better in terms of mouthfeel and concentration than flavor. Malbec, with Cabernet, Syrah and Petit Verdot.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A little heavy and teetering toward overripeness, but it holds the line despite issuing aromas of raisin, heat, leather and marinated meat. The mouth is sweet and big-boned, with good tannic structure. Tastes a touch roasted and/or burnt on the finish. Gets it more right than wrong.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
There’s more rhubarb and bramble here than we prefer from a young, everyday Malbec, and thus the bouquet is austere and only skin deep. As might be expected given the aromas, the palate is limited to herbal, lightly pickled red fruit, while the finish is quick and offers some lasting chocolate. Decent wine, but that’s as far as it goes.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Rusty in color, with warm strawberry and red pepper aromas. The palate is sort of soft and round, with plump strawberry and raspberry flavors. Holds its pose on the finish before turning more bitter and burnt. Good in its domain, but we recommend waiting for the 2008.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Strange Chardonnay. It smells and tastes more like feeble Torrontés than Chard. The palate offers only shearing apple fruit, and the finish is hard. Can’t imagine anyone pegging this as Chardonnay.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Lychee and melon aromas dance with sweeter scents of air freshener and perfume. The palate is zesty and driven, with narrow tangerine and orange flavors. Flashy Torrontes is what this is; it delivers the goods but doesn’t step too hard on the gas pedal. Drink now.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Generous in aromas, with touches of berry syrup, balsam wood and spice. On first blush the wine seems a little racy and sharp, but that driving acidity also causes the cherry and plum flavors to dance rather than sit lazily on the palate. Definitely on the money, with chocolate and more on the medium-length finish.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Though not offputting, there’s nothing particularly “premium” about this sweet, woody wine. Cloying mocha aromas and flavors mask indistinct red fruit and create a wine that’s much like a milk chocolate bar. A very easy mouthfeel, but nothing complex.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Bright yellow in color, with a heavy scoop of honey, cream and overripe tropical fruit to the nose. The flavors are dull and a little bit vegetal. Not flawed but not inspiring. Even worse, it tastes old. –M.S.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
The nose is lean and thin, while the palate is slick, dark and smoky. The finish is light and nondescript, and there seems to be a weedy note at the core. This wine is like a chameleon; it changes a lot but never seems to hit much of a stride. –M.S.
