A sweet, spicy rich nose, but at the same time tight and somewhat constricted; earthen aromas, touch of wood; there is a lot of good sweet fruit in the front of the mouth, but the wine is quite dense and monolithic; it has that “manufactured” flavor that one often finds in California pinots; there is some terroir that emerges later in the glass, the wine is big and blowsy, but seems a bit clumsy.
