Big, rich nose, very fresh and intense, red cherries, spices, deep and complex aromas with an interesting buttery underpinning; deep, rich flavors, very intense and loaded with black and red fruits, rich, ripe and very focused; long finish with lingering flavors that stay in the mouth for what seems minutes; this is not a light Burgundy, but one which gives meaning to the “iron fist in a velvet glove” analogy. Sweet, soft, somewhat diffuse nose, spicy, touch of caraway seeds; interesting flavors in the mouth, somewhat green and herbal; needs more sweet fruit, there are spices and a nice peppery quality to this wine, but it is unimpressive in the end. (16/20)
