Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A soft, gentle Zinfandel, a little sweet, like a raspberry and cherry mocha drink sprinkled with cocoa and cinnamon. Easy to drink with spicy meats, soft cheeses, everyday fare.

A really nice Syrah, especially at this price. It’s dry, softly tannic and enormously rich in blackberry and cherry-pie filling, red licorice, beef jerky, black pepper and sandalwood flavors. A real pleasure to drink now if you’re looking for a medium-bodied red.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
A smooth, lush wine that feels soft and velvety in the mouth. It has complex flavors of black and red cherries, currants, mocha, bacon, anise, black pepper and sandalwood, with some fruity sweetness on the finish. Impressive. This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Syrah and Zinfandel should hold and improve for several more years.

Shows some real class and distinction, with velvety-smooth tannins and a nice touch of smoky cedar framing well-developed flavors of black cherry candy, red currants and spices. One of the best Merlots to come out of Paso Robles lately, at a fair price.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Shows the softness of warm-climate Paso Robles, and the way that a heavy red wine, like this, develops such superb ripeness. Floods the mouth with blackberry, currant, plum, dark chocolate and orange zest flavors, wrapped into bigtime tannins. Drink now.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Ripe in fruit, a smooth wine with a creamy texture due to fine, sweet tannins. Shows complex flavors of cherries, mulberries and plums, with notes of smoky bacon, pepper and sandalwood. Nothing like an Argentinian Malbec, but pure California.

A great value at this price. Shows beautiful crispness and minerality, with ripe flavors of pineapples, limes and green apples. There’s a honeyed richness to the finish, but the wine is fundamentally dry.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Here’s a soft, rich red wine that satisfies for its velvety mouthfeel and complex flavors. Made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Merlot and Petit Verdot, it offers blackberry, currant, bacon, dark chocolate and black pepper notes that finish smooth and long. Advances the argument for these unusual blends from Paso Robles.

A lovely Sauvignon Blanc whose crisp acidity cleanses the palate, and whose dry finish leaves it stimulated, not cloyed. Shows subtle, tart lemon and lime flavors, with a minerally tang. A super bargain.

A nice Cabernet to drink now, soft and lush in fruit. The blackberry, cherry, currant and mocha flavors have a spicy, peppery edge.
