Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
Drinking very nicely, this wine bursts from the glass with rich aromas of cherry, chocolate, truffle and loam. The fruit factor is ramped up, delicious and coats the palate with bright cherry candy flavors. But this is more than a fruit bomb; the acidity and ripe tannins balance it out as it runs into a clean, lengthy finish.

Varietally correct but indistinct, oaky. Medium weight, with cherry and vanilla flavors. Not complex, but satisfying.

Young and yeasty, this six-variety blend captures the floral spice of Gewürztraminer, and mixes in some grassy herb, gooseberry and melon as well. An interesting, light, dry white wine perfect for spring.

A sharp, lean Pinot Gris. With alcohol just under 14%, it still tilts toward the green side, with cucumber and Asian pear flavors, plenty of acid and sharpness in the finish.

A welcome trend in Oregon is making Pinot Noir at moderate alcohol levels—here it’s 13.5%. This enhances the wine’s details, beginning with the aromas. Cola and clove, licorice and toffee scents promise a tasty bottle that turns out to be bursting with black berries, black cherries, black currant and even black tea flavors.

A pretty nose suggests cherry candy, sandalwood and a whiff of maple syrup. Those pie cherry and baking spice aromas continue in the mouth, with a hint of truffle. Beautifully balanced and blended—nine vineyards contributed.

Expert NoteJanuary 12, 2012
This moderately-priced Pinot Noir spent 10 months in mostly neutral French oak. Still quite young, it reveals primary fruit flavors of red apple, red pear and raspberry. Firm and juicy, with just a hint of toast.

Similar in style to the winery’s Cuvée A bottling, this had a little higher percentage of new French oak (still just one quarter total), and brings an earthier style to bear. The cherry fruit has scents and subtle flavors of compost and barnyard, with ripe but chewy tannins.

Good grip, concentration and a nice, earthy presence in the mouth. A young wine that shows some ripe, rich cherry fruit, along with textured layers of earth and stone.
